The magazine divides Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice into its original three volumes. Each cover features a reimagined version of the original bookplate, underlaid with an .ai-generated cover image. The visuals needed to be beautiful but also meet two key requirements:

Open for Interpretation
The images invite readers to connect directly to Pride and Prejudice. For Volume 1, the focus was on two sisters, evoking Jane Bennet and Elizabeth. While our internal vision of Lizzy leans toward Jennifer Ehle’s portrayal, the interpretation remains flexible enough to embrace Keira Knightley.

Historical Personalities
Each cover aligns with historical figures whose lives resonate with Austen’s world. We selected individuals whose stories Jane Austen might have encountered, particularly given their mother, Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, had a widely publicised private life.

Georgiana and Harriet Cavendish, born roughly a decade after Austen, came from an aristocratic family. Their lives carry a faint echo of the sisters at the heart of Pride and Prejudice.
