Volume III
The third volume closes the story and raises its horizon. Editorials such as A Princess’s Wardrobe place Princess Charlotte at the centre of a wider Regency imagination, while the conclusion of Elizabeth and Darcy’s journey gives the work its final resolution. Grandeur and intimacy sit side by side, marking the height of aspiration and the quiet power of choice.
Advertisements and ephemera in this volume are more stately in tone. Notices of royal events, and the presence of leading makers give it the weight of high society. The magazine aims to frame the marriage of Elizabeth and Darcy within the grandeur of the age, while still allowing space for its quiet human heart.
